BRAAI FOR MEERHOF (Non-Profit Organisation)
Braai for Meerhof School, is a fundraising initiative to build an all inclusive playground to give children regardless of their abilities or disabilities equal opportunity to grow, develop and dream. This will be the first ever inclusive play park in South Africa, where abled and disabled children can play together is planned for the Meerhof School for the disabled in Hartbeespoort. From our article in Kormorant: As a result of an initiative by the Business International Visionnaires Hartbeespoort branch, this park will be realised soon. “All the play parks in South Africa do not currently facilitate the opportunity for disabled kids to play. These children have to sit and watch how the able-bodied children play and have fun. Most of us go through life without thinking about this although we know how important play is for the physical and emotional development of children. How would you as a parent feel if your child is excluded from play at the play park, and how would your child feel?” said Gabriel Crause, one of the organisers of the project called #BraaiforMeerhof. This fundraising project sells firelighters of high quality to raise funds for the park. SA Braai Broers Firelighters have joined forces with the project. “Meerhof School will be the first school to have such a play park and it will be the first of its kind in South Africa. The equipment needed for such a play park, varies from normal play park equipment and is not yet being manufactured in South Africa. #BraaiforMeerhof intends to import this equipment from the UK. So, except for the infrastructure needed for this play park, the additional importation and installation costs are also being added to the total project cost,” Crause says. Local contractors are helping us with the infrastructure for the play park. Anton Du Plessis from Alltion Architecture is doing the design and layout of the play park. The play park will cost approximately R1 million to complete. We are enjoying great support from the community, thank you!! Anel Van Der Merwe, Paul Kruger, Annelie Dillman, Machiel Roets, Kevin Leo and Roelof Bouwer helped us by producing an excellent video to help create awareness for the project.” #BNI #Kormorant #Bosveld Stereo #Community #SA Braai Broers You can watch the touching video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ydrdu8pHeJ0) or on our Facebook page: Braai For Meerhof.
